After a seriously good coffee/tea/chocolate, 'stroopwafels' for energy boost and some do's (enjoy!) and don'ts (don't pet the swan!)..off we go! Our tour will start in the Eastern Docklands, my hood and former 19th century sea harbour, transformed in a residential area in the 1990's. The old warehouses, now apartments, quays and waterways betray the regions original purpose. The area was first developed for shipping industry in the late 17th century, during the 4th expansion of Amsterdam. Later in the 19th century huge factory halls were constructed for (steam) railway and (ship) engine industry.
